Okay,
I know that we are paying a very tidy sum to live in this apartment complex, and until last month, everything has been great. We lived in a reletively quiet building beneath a family and across from an old lady that uses a cane. We know we live in a place that also houses folks that are not really our type...but we leave them alone, and they have left us alone...until last month.
I don't really know how many people live downstairs, because there's so many people going in and out. The best I can guess is that there's at least three 19-year-old white boys and a girlfriend or two down there at any given time. 12pm: BOOM BOOM BOOM with the stereo. 9pm: BOOM BOOM BOOM with the stereo. 10:30 pm on a weeknight: BOOM BOOM BOOM, rattle rattle, their five friends and their girls come over in a truck and yell at each other thru windows. ALL hours of the day and night: very noticable wafts of cigarette smoke coming from below. 7pm on a Monday while we're holding FHE with Will's parents: skunky POT SMOKE wafts up into our living room. Just a couple days ago, Will was walking to the bus stop and one of the guys was outside with his girlfriend--completely without provocation, the guy derogatorily called Will a homosexual. Yesterday, we noticed there were tennis shoes dangling from the telephone wire across from our building.
>sigh<
Isn't pot still illegal in Kansas? We complained once to the office of our complex, but that was before the pot. Something tells me if I try to complain to the office again I'll get about as much help as we did last time... "well, we can move you to another building." No, not really, thanks. I would rather live in a place that doesn't allow illegal activity on its premises...but we really can't afford to move, and I don't want to go through the hassle of moving my stuff from apartment to apartment all over the complex.
What Would Grandma Do?
Actually, I remember her telling me a story about when a big family of troublemakers moved in next door to her. She said she started praying every day that they would move away so that she wouldn't have to. I can't remember how long it took, but they did move away in a very short period of time.
Better get prayin'.

1. CUUUTE KITTIES!
2. Call the police. Repeatedly. If your apt. managers can't do anything, the cops can and I'm pretty sure pot ain't legal in KS yet. ;)
Good luck and much love!
